The pastor at Christ Lutheran Church is David Owens, who was ordained and installed on July 2, 2006. David was born to Kenneth and Ramona Owens in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He was baptized Dec. 30, 1951 at Trinity Lutheran Church, the home congregation of his grandparents. He was confirmed June 13, 1965 at Concordia Lutheran Church. After graduating from Sikeston High School, he attended Southeast Missouri State University and then went to work for his father at Ken's Candy Company. In 1977, he married Pamela; at Concordia Lutheran and they have two grown children, Elizabeth and Kenny. In 1983, he went to work at Hedrick Concrete Products Corp., selling assorted products to the retail and wholesale market, both nationally and locally. When Pastor Dave was promoted at Hedrick, he was in charge of servicing the architectural and engineering markets throughout the Missouri and Mississippi Valley. The family moved from Sikeston to Festus, Missouri and there joined Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crystal City. Before returning to school at Jefferson College, he spent a year working in a metal manufacturing plant operating their new laser. Upon finishing his degree at Jefferson College in 2002, he began attending Concordia Seminary in St. Louis. Pastor Dave spent one year as a vicar at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Farmington, Missouri, where they had a school and three workship services. Pastor Dave was graduated from the seminary on May 19, 2006 with a Masters in Divinity. In June 2004, he and Pam became the grandparents of Haleigh.

The Office Administrator is Susan Anderson. Susan came to Christ Lutheran in April of 2005, while her daughter was attending Kindergarten at Christ Lutheran School. Susan's many duties as administrator include preparing the weekly Sunday bulletin, the monthly newsletter, the church website, maintaining the weekly attendance and offering, taking care of payroll/bills and various pastor/office correspondence. On the school side, she maintains student enrollment and records, tuition, program bulletins, teacher contracts and all other correspondence. She and her husband, Barry, and daughter, Lauren, make their home in the neighboring town of Yukon. Susan and Barry grew up in Oklahoma and recently relocated here to be near family after living away for 17 years. When she's not at the church, Susan keeps busy with her daughter's many activities, and when there's time, enjoys crafts and reading. |

The Christ Lutheran School Coordinator is Mabel Mailand, a member of Christ Lutheran Church since 1991 and serves as one of the church's organists. Mrs. Mailand started a Kindergarten program at the school in 1991, just five years after the school opened with a preschool program in 1986. She served as its Kindergarten teacher for 10 years and retired from a career in teaching three years ago. Mrs. Mailand still involves herself with the children at Christ Lutheran School, weekly, as she leads them in music and other activities. She serves on the school board, with four other church members, who meet monthly to plan and coordinate school procedure, set policies for staff and students, select personnel and provide for the necessary means and facilities for the school. She and her husband, Charlie, reside in Mustang and have four grown children, 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. |
